Simon Capp Early Harps

This is a single row Italianate instrument based on an example in the Smithsonian Institute, Washington D.C., USA.

 

It has a beck pillar and soundboard of sycamore, and the sound box is carved from a single piece of sycamore. It has 29 strings and can be tuned either diatonically C- d'”, or D-b flat” according to Mersenne with a b and b flat in in the upper octaves.
